This 640-acre park is set on Potholes Reservoir (also known as O’Sullivan Reservoir) with 6,000 feet of freshwater shoreline—fishing is a highlight. Trout, walleye, bass, crappie, and perch are among the species taken here. Waterskiing and hiking (on one mile of hiking trails) are other recreation options. A side trip to the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge, located two miles southeast of the park, is recommended. Note: Do not confuse Potholes Reservoir with the Potholes Lakes, a 30- to 45-minute drive away.
Campsites, facilities: There are 61 sites for tents or RVs up to 50 feet long (no hookups), 55 sites for tents or RVs up to 50 feet long (30 amp full hookups), five cabins, and a group site for up to 50 people. Picnic tables and fire grills are provided. Restrooms with flush toilets and showers, a dump station, a playground, volleyball courts, firewood, and a sheltered picnic area are available. Boat-launching facilities and rentals are nearby. Some facilities are wheelchair accessible. Leashed pets are permitted.
Reservations, fees: Reservations are accepted at 888/226-7688 or https://washington.goingtocamp.com ($8-10 reservation fee). RV sites are $25-45 per night, tent sites are $12 per night, cabins are $45-79 per night, $10 per night per extra vehicle. Call for group rates. Open year-round.
Directions: From I-90 at Moses Lake, take Exit 179 and Highway 17. Turn south and drive nine miles to Highway 262. Turn right (west) and drive 11 miles to the resort on the southern shore of Potholes Reservoir (well signed).
